History
The aims of the History curriculum are to foster students' global perspectives and enhance their understanding of today's diverse and rapidly changing society. This is achieved by helping students:
- Understand and comprehend the main characteristics of world civilizations in different periods from a variety of perspectives (political, economic, technological and scientific, social, religious, aesthetic, etc.);
- Understand and comprehend the main characteristics of the development of Hong Kong and relate them to the national and world development;
- Comprehend basic historical concepts and terms;
- Understand the causal relationships of historical events;
- Comprehend the concepts of change and continuity in major historical issues and developments;
- Understand that the past can be interpreted in different ways;
- Distinguish facts from opinions;
- Engage in imaginative reconstruction of past events;
- Select, organise, and deploy information sources, and express ideas in a well-structured manner;
- Develop an interest in the past and an appreciation of human achievements and aspirations;
