Message from the Principal

Under the new three-year development plan, we are focused on cultivating a proactive attitude among students towards the challenges they face in learning, activities, and service. In terms of learning, the school continues to actively promote the “One Diploma, Multiple Certificates” project, allocating additional resources to help students register for various international examinations, including the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS), the International Chemistry Quiz (ICQ), the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry International Qualifications (LCCI), the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). This enables students to obtain international certificates before graduating, while offering them practical experience with public examinations. Under the careful guidance of our teachers, students have achieved remarkable results. Additionally, some students have been selected to participate in the Microsoft AI-900 course, the Alibaba Cloud Computing course, and the HKU Space UI/UX User Design Certificate course. Upon completion, students are eligible to receive a Level 2 or above qualification, further enhancing their competitiveness.

At the curriculum level, our Chinese, Mathematics, and Science departments maintain close connections with the Education Bureau, the University of Hong Kong, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. We rely on learning circles, school-based support, and teaching research models to develop a school-based curriculum, and explore various teaching strategies in an effort to cater to students' diverse learning needs and improve teaching effectiveness.

With regard to activities, we continue to implement the “Brilliant Friday” programme, which involves a series of activities on Friday afternoons, including uniform team activities for Form One students, The Young Connoisseur cultural activities for Form One and Two students, elite fencing, shuttlecock, or STEM activities, foreign language interest groups for Form Two and Three students, and applied learning courses for Form Four and Five students, all of which aim to meet students’ diverse learning needs and promote personal growth. Additionally, we continue to promote “Experiential Learning Outside the Classroom”, through various overseas exchange programmes that foster students' curiosity about the world and broaden their horizons. Since the start of the school year, we have organised more than 20 local and overseas exchange programmes, for over 450 student participants, giving them the opportunity to visit multiple provinces in mainland China, as well as the UK, Denmark, South Korea, and Singapore. In addition, under the “One Subject, One Competition” initiative, our students have won 131 awards in external competitions and over 458 of them were recipients of accolades. While success is important, the greatest benefit of these competitions is the opportunity for students to branch out and learn the spirit of perseverance in the face of difficulties.

In terms of service, our students actively participate in community flag-selling, meal distribution, and other volunteer activities. They also intern at various universities and organisations. For example, one of our students was selected to participate in the "Alibaba Internship Programme" at Alipay Hong Kong; two students were invited to join the “Work Shadowing Programme 2025”, organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau (Environmental Science) and the Environmental Protection Department; and ten Form Three students participated in a medical service experience at the New World Medical Group. Through these internships and experiential programmes, students have gained valuable work experience, preparing them for their future careers.

The number of LWFSS students scoring a mark of 14 or above and 18 or above in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination increased by 62% and 40% respectively, as compared to last year, marking significant progress. Overall, 42% of students this year received degree programme offers from various universities, including 11 students who were unconditionally admitted to 21 bachelor programme prior to the release of related results. Additionally, over the past year, we received a number of commendations acknowledging our graduates' outstanding performance from institutions such as The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and City University of Hong Kong. This demonstrates that Lung Kongers, under the guidance of teachers, can strive for self-improvement and continue to progress academically.

Our school and its staff were also recipients of numerous education awards. For instance, in the field of STEAM education, our school was awarded the “School Development Award,” “School Curriculum Design Award,” and “Scientific Inquiry Learning Design Award” by the University of Hong Kong. Additionally, two of our teachers received the “Excellence in Extracurricular Activities Award” and the “Outstanding New Teacher Award” from the Hong Kong Association of Teachers of Extracurricular Activities, showcasing their exceptional contributions to education.

All of these efforts, from both teachers and students, highlight our commitment to excellence. We hope that students will continue to adhere to our school motto of “Loyalty, Righteousness, Benevolence, Courage”, to become well-rounded, lifelong learners who excel in both character and academics.
